The Golden Rules Of Marketing4Solicitors Legal Webinar

In my 20 plus years of working in the legal profession and marketing law firms I have seen a huge number of changes. I have also seen many things staying exactly the same. I have seen huge numbers of solicitors doing the same marketing activities year after year. The thing that surprised me, even amazed me, was that they kept getting results. Year after year they would do the same thing, often just one marketing activity predominantly, yet they kept on getting enough results to stay in business and to remain profitable.

I have always submersed myself in marketing books and different industries outside of the legal profession so that I could always find new and exciting marketing activities to bring in new clients for the law firms that I have worked with. Yet these other firms would do one activity, or rely on one major referrer of work, or simply wait for the work to walk through the door and still survive. Amazingly to me this seemed to work (because the firms remained in business), but that is no longer the case. The rules have changed:

Doing the same thing as you have always done is now certain to achieve only one thing: diminishing returns.

YOU CANT WAIT FOR THE NEW COMPETITION TO SETTLE IN!

Having worked in the legal profession for over 20 years, I have often been amazed how late some solicitors leave it to take action when faced with new laws, rules, or now more competition.

Please, please, do not wait until all of your new competitors have settled in and start to market their businesses more aggressively. Start making changes right now. It takes months or even years to put in place the foundations that you need to protect your practice and to keep it profitable for many years to come; yet at the same time it does not have to be difficult.

Since 2003 when I set up Samson Consulting to win new clients for solicitors and to increase the profits of their practices, I have noticed that there are many, many obstacles that stop solicitors from successfully growing their businesses. I have spent hours upon hours analysing the solicitors that I have worked with and documented the changes that are required that make the difference. I have put all of this information into the Golden Rules Webinar which you can watch now and start making changes to improve the marketing of your practice today.

Nick Jervis’s Golden Rules of Marketing4Solicitors is interesting, entertaining and motivational. It has spurred me to action, and I’m excited about putting it into practice.

Andrew Park – APP Wine Law

The legal marketing webinar definitely provided me with ideas to win new clients, most definitely, mainly by stepping outside the box. A very useful piece of practical advice was to move a different room or desk, so replacing your lawyer hat for your marketing hat.

My biggest aha moment from the webinar was probably the insight into the website marketing – I now have some proactive ideas for my own website. In a nutshell the Golden Rules Of Marketing4Solicitors Webinar taught me to think like a businessman rather than a lawyer. The webinar absolutely provided value for money.

Peter Beckerley, Rausa Mumford LLP.

I found the Golden Rules were to some extent a reminder of things I have heard from other sources before but there are loads of ideas that were new to me and all the points are presented in a practical and motivating way. It is easy to think that all is doom and gloom for solicitors at the moment but your presentation left me feeling empowered and encouraged that the situation can be improved – in many cases, by taking quite easy and limited action.

In that respect, the parts about perfection killing momentum and not being afraid to “fail fast” were probably the most enlightening for me. All too often, I have been paralysed by the fear of failure in the past.

I have also begun to ‘follow up’, if not ad infinitum, at least more – and already seen us getting in business we would probably have missed out on otherwise as a result.

I would certainly recommend your “Golden Rules” webinar to solicitors or other legal professionals as it provides excellent value for money at £99.

Peter Brash, Solicitor, Grigor Young.

Following your advice, I have already bought and read Atul Gawande’s “The Checklist Manifesto”, through which the use of the humble checklist can been seen to have produced startling performance benefits across a range of industries from aviation to healthcare – so I agree (as you say) that it should have useful application in relation to the law in general and personal injury claims in particular. The Checklist Manifesto is a fascinating book.

At last this is marketing I can understand, something I can even develop. Up until now marketing has been an expensive experience where someone analyses what a business does and then gives some aspirational ideas about brand or quality. Nick Jervis’ wholly refreshing approach tells you what to do to attract clients rather than what it is your business should do. His golden rules are steps you can and should take if you want to take control of bringing in new clients rather than sit and hope they come to the door. Tips like using your old client base to generate business and explaining effective internet marketing are explained in a way lawyers can understand. Before you know it you are thinking of ideas of your own and Nick’s approach gives you the confidence to try them.

Brilliant, insightful and a great discussion. Nick certainly knows his stuff and makes you feel at ease.

Less than a year ago I asked Nick to help me grow our practice by making the telephone ring.

He’s certainly done that and much more.

The improvements are incredible and Nick has guided me through the many challenges of scaling up, not least the need for a client focused approach.

This has allowed me to start the next phase; organising the practice to ensure a better lifestyle balance for all of us, whilst we continue to grow.

As the owner of a small to medium-sized law firm, I have found that Samson Consulting’s Marketing4Solicitors monthly newsletter has proved absolutely invaluable throughout the last three years or so. Of all the marketing advice I’ve had over the years, this has proved by far the best value – bringing us tens of thousand of pounds of extra work every year.

One of the best tricks Nick Jervis [who owns Samson Consulting] uses, is not only to identify the kind of marketing actions a small or medium-sized business can take themselves, but he also explains why it works and most importantly then takes you through, step-by-step exactly what you need to do. As someone who is passionate about growing my business, I really look forward to receiving Nick’s excellent newsletter every month.

It’s worth pointing out that initially I was sceptical about his promises – so many marketing businesses promise the earth. But within a couple of months I was absolutely convinced he was right and I have been hooked ever since.

I recommend Nick Jervis and Samson Consulting without any hesitation whatsoever.

I have worked with Nick for many years. He is an excellent consultant and helps law firms and businesses attract the clients they are looking for. Highly recommend.

As a medium sized Law Firm we have been dealing with Nick for a good few years now – his assistance and support delivered in a friendly but professional way has been invaluable; added to this, coming from a legal background he has a firm understanding of what solicitors require.

At our initial meeting with Nick he advised on various marketing strategies including simple changes to our website that would enhance traffic to the site.

We are now working on a new marketing project and know, as always, we are in safe hands.
