Who am I?
I am a former solicitor who early into his legal career realised that he enjoyed marketing law firms more than he actually enjoyed doing the legal work. It wasn’t that I was a bad solicitor, I billed more than most fee earners in the firms that I worked for and got my fair share of client thank you’s and gifts (remember those days)?
I just gained more excitement from attracting more clients to my law firm through my marketing efforts than I did from doing the legal work, so naturally I spent more and more time doing this and less and less time fee earning, until it was my full time role inside a law firm.
However, I had ambitions to run my own law firm. With my marketing skills, people naturally assumed that I would just establish my own law firm, market the pants off it and sit back and do the work. That did not appeal at all. It would still mean that at first I would have to do all of the legal work and the marketing (the thing that I did not enjoy so much) and doing the ‘marketing of law firms’ would only be a bit part in my day. I wanted marketing law firms to be the sole focus of my day, so running a law firm was simply not an option.
The birth of Samson Consulting
Therefore, in July 2003 I took my last day of employment in a law firm and established my marketing consultancy for law firms. If you are reading this some years’ later, I must still be going, phew!
What do I do?
I show decision makers in law firms how to grow their law firms quickly and cost effectively using proven, practical and easy to implement and then outsource marketing methods.
I have a lot of clients I can call friends because I have worked with them for so long. They are important to me and I am important to them. I feel very lucky to be in this position.
We have never once regretted having Nick as our marketing consultant. He is just brilliant at thinking out of the box and making us do the same. We decided very early on that we just had to trust him because we are lawyers and not so good at selling things!
Nick is enthusiastic and extremely pro active which is infectious and makes us want to excel at attracting the clients we really want. He is now an integral and indispensable part of our team.
